Can i put 2 rescued finches in with my tail. The cage is 1 1/2 feet by 2 1/2 feet.?

My tail is very gentle. He's in a huge cage and i need to put the finches in a bigger space (their in a hamster cage). I'm in the process of finding them a home but i want them to be comfortable until i can do so. What are your suggestions?
